Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Ronin Arms builds,
suppressor systems, conversions, ordering policies, and platform compatibility.

This FAQ page covers the most common questions about Ronin Arms integrally suppressed builds, conversion services, suppressor systems, compatibility requirements, and ordering policies. If you’re considering a build, sending in your firearm for conversion, or purchasing a suppressor system, the information below will help you understand timelines, requirements, and what to expect.

1. What ammunition should I use with my Ronin Arms SD system?

Ronin Arms SD systems are specifically designed and tuned around:

  • 115 grain factory ball ammunition
  • 124 grain factory ball ammunition

Our proprietary porting is engineered to bring these rounds down to subsonic performance while maintaining proper system function.

Our systems are built and tuned around these loads to achieve:

  • Consistent cycling
  • Proper system timing
  • Optimal suppression performance
  • Reduced recoil and balanced operation

This is how the platform is designed to run.

No. We do not recommend or support the use of 147 grain or heavier ammunition in our SD systems.

Using heavier subsonic rounds can cause:

  • Increased back pressure
  • Cycling inconsistencies
  • Reduced overall performance

Our systems are not tuned for heavy subsonic ammunition.

No.

We do not recommend +P or overpressure ammunition.

This can:

  • Increase wear on internal components
  • Disrupt system timing
  • Negatively affect long-term reliability

No.

We recommend factory-new, brass-cased ammunition only.

Reloaded or remanufactured ammo can introduce:

  • Inconsistent pressures
  • Reliability issues
  • Increased wear

No.

We do not support polymer-coated, plated, or specialty ammunition in our SD systems.

These can:

  • Affect porting performance
  • Leave residue in the system
  • Impact reliability over time

Using unsupported ammunition can result in:

  • Cycling issues
  • Reduced suppression performance
  • Increased fouling or wear
  • Overall system inconsistency

Ronin Arms systems are tuned precisely—ammo choice directly impacts performance.

The following ammunition types are not supported:

  • 147 grain or heavier subsonic ammunition
  • +P or overpressure rounds
  • Reloaded or remanufactured ammunition
  • Polymer-coated or specialty ammunition
  • Steel-cased or non-standard ammunition

Using unsupported ammunition may lead to inconsistent cycling, reduced suppression performance, increased wear, and overall reliability concerns.

“SD” originates from the German word Schalldämpfer, meaning “sound suppressor.”

An integrally suppressed firearm (SD system) is a platform where the suppressor is designed around the barrel as part of a complete system, rather than being a simple muzzle attachment.

  • The barrel typically sits inside the suppressor
  • Many systems utilize ported barrels to manage gas and velocity
  • The suppressor works in conjunction with the barrel, not just attached to the end

This allows the platform to be tuned as a complete unit for optimal sound reduction, pressure control, and overall performance.

In most modern SD systems, yes—the suppressor can be removed for service. However:

  • The system is designed to operate with the suppressor installed
  • Removing it changes timing, pressure, and performance

These platforms are not intended to be run as standard, unsuppressed firearms and will have catastrophic failure and injury if ran without suppressor.

No. A true SD system is not a simple muzzle device add-on. It is a fully engineered platform where the barrel and suppressor are designed to function together as a complete operating system.

No. Some firearms only use permanently attached suppressors to meet length requirements. True SD platforms are purpose-built systems that typically feature:

  • Ported barrels
  • Tuning for specific ammunition
  • Engineering focused on balanced overall system performance

No. Ronin Arms does not sell, install, or offer FRT triggers at this time.

No. FRT triggers are not installed under any circumstances.

No. FRT systems are not currently endorsed. Ongoing testing has identified performance inconsistencies, particularly on integrally suppressed platforms where system timing and configuration are critical.

Testing has shown the potential for:

  • Inconsistent cycling and timing
  • Changes in suppression performance
  • Increased sensitivity based on platform and configuration

Integrally suppressed systems are tuned very precisely, and introducing an FRT can disrupt overall system balance.

Yes. Testing and evaluation are ongoing. At this time:

  • No confirmed solution has been finalized
  • No configuration has been approved
  • Platform-specific testing continues

This decision is up to the end user. However:

  • Ronin Arms is actively testing FRT systems
  • Performance inconsistencies have been identified
  • Dedicated tuning or setup is not provided
  • Performance cannot be guaranteed

Support is limited. If an FRT is installed:

  • Function and performance cannot be guaranteed
  • Observations from ongoing testing may be discussed at our discretion
  • Any guidance provided is informational only and does not represent an approved configuration

Use of non-supported configurations may impact warranty coverage if they contribute to performance issues, excessive wear, or damage.

Possibly. Any future offering would require:

  • Complete testing
  • Full system understanding
  • Proven reliability

The Ronin Standard represents Ronin Arms’ commitment to building platforms that perform within a clearly defined operating window. Every system is intentionally engineered, purposefully tested, and configured for dependable real-world reliability. When the correct ammunition and system configuration are used, the platform is designed to deliver:

  • Smooth cycling
  • Consistent suppression
  • Reliable performance

Operating outside of the intended setup can result in increased wear, reduced performance, and unpredictable system behavior. Configurations that do not meet the Ronin Standard are not released or supported.

No. All sales are final. Ronin Arms does not accept returns and does not provide refunds. This policy is also stated on customer receipts.
